The Team
James Elms – Managing Director
James served 28 years with the Army leaving as a Major. During his service he has gained extensive global experience in the planning and delivery of sensitive operations working to both the UK and foreign governments.
Operationally James has worked in a wide range of fields from anti-smuggling and illegal immigration for the Hong Kong Government to planning and running of covert surveillance in Northern Ireland at the height of The Troubles. He has also delivered specialised training in covert anti-drug running operations to the Counter Terrorist Operations Group of the Jamaican Government. In 2005 he was selected to head the training and selection of the first Brigade Reconnaissance Force for Iraq, a concept that is still operating in Afghanistan today.
James was the key planner conducting logistic support to operations in the high threat environment of North West Afghanistan. He was responsible for camp building, the provision of security, life support and management of locally employed civilian staff to an organisation of over 1500 personnel.
In the commercial sector, he has delivered threat and risk awareness training to the staff at Buckingham Palace, consulted on the threat mitigation unit of a large organisation delivering both written assessments and electronic presentations of risk to strategic level management, consulted on the development of classified military hardware for Thales. More recently James has worked in the Private Security Industry as the Logistics and Procurement Head supporting projects in the Middle East turnovering over in excess of $250m, he focused on reducing costs and driving efficiency whilst maintaining an industry leading level of service.
David Claydon – Director
David served in the Army with a career spanning some 23 years. His extensive operational experience has seen him as an integral member of the decision making and planning process conducting operations in the high threat environments of the Balkans, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan. His experience extends across the spectrum from armed conflict to the delivery of humanitarian aid on behalf of the United Nations into the former Yugoslav Republic of Bosnia.
During kinetic operations he has been involved in the planning & decision making cycle, playing a key role producing timely and accurate intelligence/threat reports. He has comprehensive experience of training foreign police and security forces in public order and urban security operations.
On moving into the commercial sector David was head hunted by a leading security consultancy as the Operations Director; his experience allowed him to conduct in depth detailed security surveys and reviews on domestic, industrial and commercial premises. These plans have informed strategic level management and allowed them to act with confidence in their planning cycle.
David has, since joining the commercial environment worked with the FCO, Home Office and a variety of NGOs. He has been instrumental in the training and delivery of close protection services to both US & UK clients, providing detailed personal safety and travel advice for HNW families and individuals both at home and abroad.
Prior to co-founding JDR Solutions David was planning and delivering close protection services to US Government Personnel in Iraq. David now runs the Executive Protection & Physical Security Section of JDR Solutions.
