Logistics Consultancy - Health and Safety

One of JDR’s logistics consultants had the task of preparing a large London based organisation of over 500 personnel for its forthcoming HFE Audit. The organisation had four locations spread across the capital and its headquarters in the very heart of the city; the organisation had suffered from a lack of direction and control with locations acting independently at times, without much needed central control or focus. The consultant tailored the organisations approach to H+S, updated the systems and processes and re-wrote the policy for the organisation in order to provide a controlled manageable focus.

The audit team found the systems, policy and approach to SHEF in the organisation of the quality to negate a further inspection for three years.

Logistics Consultancy - Casualty Evacuation

Whilst managing an austere gold exploration camp in the Central African Republic one of JDRs Logistic Consultants had to organise the evacuation of a very ill worker. The consultant, working in liaison with the London based headquarters, the evacuation company, the insurers and local facilitators managed the prompt extraction to a South African hospital of the casualty.

Acting independently the consultants’ swift action very probably saved the workers life and the company a very large payout.

Security Consultancy – Close Protection

One of JDR Solutions' consultants was tasked by an American client to plan and manage the close protection of an American CEO and his wife for a 10 day visit to Istanbul, Turkey. The visit was a mixture of business and pleasure.

In liaison with the British and US embassies in Istanbul the consultant conducted a detailed threat and risk assessment. He then sourced, vetted and recruited four local Close Protection Operatives, two of which would be armed along with two suitable vehicles and experienced, professional drivers. This involved a comprehensive understanding of Turkish and international legislation regarding the carriage of concealed weapons. He arranged briefing by Turkish Police on arrival in Istanbul and liaised with clients' own head of security for itinerary and travel plans. A series of rehearsals and venue visits highlighted any potential pitfalls, and contingency plans were put in place. This detailed research and prior planning ensured everybody involved knew exactly what was required and expected.

The client, a seasoned traveller, commented that he had never encountered such discreet professionalism.

Security Consultancy – Security Review

A JDR consultant was engaged by a high profile preparatory school in West London to conduct a security review following a spate of thefts and a robbery.

Detailed discussions with the headmaster and key school staff identified areas of concern and recent incidents indicated a trend. This allowed the consultant to analyse the pattern and times when events took place. A comprehensive inspection of the school grounds, including public roads adjacent, highlighted vulnerable areas.

A report with supporting imagery was produced, along with a list of recommendations. This was given to the headmaster to allow him to make an informed assessment on how to make his school safer for pupils, staff and parents.

All of the key recommendations were implemented before the end of the term. There have been no further incidents reported.
